Ian’s Music

Ian is a classically trained cellist, having studied under David Krieger (an eminent musician and pupil of Janos Starker). He is fiercely dedicated to his instrument and has performed at the Burgos International Music Festival, and at the Summit Music Festival.

Ian is also a self taught guitarist, and composer. He has been obsessed with Elliott Smith since his sister introduced his music to him, and he spends significant time deciphering Elliott’s unique sound. Ian has made it a personal mission to learn as many of Smith’s songs as he can, as authentically as he can. Ian also writes classical music, and is particularly fond of piano trios. He is currently working on a piece inspired by Dimitri Shostakovich. Ian has also contributed to the soundtrack of several short films, including Moonshiners written and directed by his high school classmate, Quinn Fluet.

Ian is available to teach private lessons to beginner cellists, hoping to pass on some of the technique he has learned from years of practice.
